K wie Kunst, Kommunikation oder Kontemplation – alle Worte treffen auf dieses neue Projekt von Christoph Hildebrand zu. Aber natürlich kommen auch die schönen Worte Küssen, Kuscheln oder Kitzeln in den Sinn. Die ganze Welt ließe sich unter dem Buchstaben K subsummieren, denn auch Worte wie Krieg, Katastrophe oder Krise beginnen mit dem Buchstaben K.
Das Kunstwerk setzt sich aus 10 Tischen zusammen, die den Buchstaben K in dem riesigen Format von 10x8m bilden. Die Skulptur steigt über die sechs Stufen des Innenhofs zum Museumseingang auf. Aus den Tischflächen werden Sitzflächen für Hocker ausgeschnitten, so dass 40 Personen das Kunstwerk für Gespräche, Trinken, Essen oder Darbietungen nutzen können – die Besucher werden zu einem lebendigen Teil des Kunstwerkes.
Die Tische werden von einer Vielzahl an unterschiedlichsten Leuchten, die wir sonst nur aus Innenräumen kennen, illuminiert. So finden sich Petroleumlampen, Glühbirnen, Leuchtstoffröhren und LED-Lichter zu einer komplexen Topographie zusammen und bilden ein assoziationsreiches and anregendes Porträt unsere Gesellschaft.

Eine Lichtskulptur für den Innenhof des MIK beauftragt vom Kunstverein Ludwigsburg. Das Projekt konnte im Rahmen des Lichtkunst-Festivals „Aufstiege“ realisiert werden. Ludwigsburg und der Kunstverein waren Teil dieser übergreifenden Kunstaktion, die in 25 Städten der Region Stuttgart stattfand.

A light sculpture for the inner courtyard of the MIK
K for art, communication or contemplation – all words in german spelling apply to this new project by Christoph Hildebrand. But of course the beautiful words kissing, cuddling or tickling also come to mind. The whole world could be subsumed under the letter K, because words like war, catastrophe or crisis also begin with the letter K.
The work of art is composed of 10 tables that form the letter K in the huge format of 10x8m. The sculpture ascends the six steps of the courtyard to the museum entrance. Seating areas for stools are cut out of the table surfaces so that 40 people can use the artwork for conversation, drinking, eating or performing – the visitors become a living part of the artwork.
The tables are illuminated by a multitude of different luminaires that we usually only know from interiors. Petroleum lamps, incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes and LED lights come together to form a complex topography and a portrait of our society that is rich in associations and stimulating.

A light sculpture for the inner courtyard of the MIK commissioned by the Kunstverein Ludwigsburg. The project was realised as part of the „Aufstiege“ light art festival. Ludwigsburg and the Kunstverein were part of this overarching art action that took place in 25 cities in the Stuttgart region.
