Monument für den Aufbruch in eine neue Zeit
Eine leuchtende Säule, weithin sichtbar, markiert zentral den Stadtplatz am Kaisersteg. Die Skulptur ist eine urbane und touristische Attraktion. Sie lenkt die Aufmerksamkeit auf die historische Elektropolis in Oberschöneweide. Sie ist ein Symbol für die bahnbrechende Industriegeschichte und ein Zeichen für den Aufbruch in die Zukunft durch Forschung und Lehre an der HTW und den neu angesiedelten Start-Ups.
Die drei Spiralen nehmen Bezug auf die drei Phasen des Drehstroms. Die LED-Beleuchtung ist animiert und frei programmierbar. Die LED-Laufschrift ist ein kreisrundes endloses Informationsband. Das rote, tragende Fachwerk hat die Form einer Glühfadenlampe. In der Dunkelheit leuchten die Stäbe.

Monument to the dawn of a new era
A luminous column, visible from afar, centrally marks the town square at the Kaisersteg. The sculpture is an urban and tourist attraction. It draws attention to the historic Electropolis in Oberschöneweide. It is a symbol of the pioneering industrial history and a sign of the departure into the future through research and teaching at the HTW and the newly settled start-ups.
The three spirals refer to the three phases of the three-phase current. The LED lighting is animated and freely programmable. The LED ticker is a circular endless band of information. The red supporting framework has the shape of a filament lamp. In the dark, the bars glow.
